If It’s Summer – Must be Time for Farmers Markets

While we would argue that fresh delicious food feeds both body and soul, it has also been said that man (and woman) does not live by bread alone. In order to ensure that we are providing total nutrition, each week the Monroe Village Farmers’ Market offers a local artist a vendor slot at minimal cost. We hope this gives our artists an opportunity to sell and promote their work, as well as to interact with our friendly shoppers.

This Wednesday you can visit Rochester Artisan Francesca DeCaire at the Monroe Village Farmers Market, which is held on Wednesday evenings, 4:00-7:00 (June 13 – October 17).

Francesca will be there with her lampworked beads, each one carefully crafted by her in her studio in The Hungerford. She has some jewelry for you ready to wear, and many beads for purchase so you can create your own artful accessories!

The Monroe Village Farmers’ Market began because a small group of neighbors wanted to bring fresh food and a spirit of community to Monroe Avenue. Shoppers at a farmers’ market have, on average, many more conversations than those in a grocery store.

  1. Awww shucks. You are the greatest!
I had a wonderful customer last Wednesday who purchased many earrings. Thats what we cross our fingers for, right?
I also had a special moment when a blind woman stopped at my table. She was probably wondering what the crazy loud girl was raving about. I offered her my bead bins, thinking she might enjoy their shapes. She sifted through them as her son described what I had for sale. She bought a few interesting beads. One that had some sort of stacked pressed dots. A favorite of mine that had been in the orphan bin for some time. One of my best vending moments ever.
Hope this wednsday is as fun as the last. It may have been to good to beat.
