Flying Whale Studios 2012 Artist Open House

143 Williams Street
Geneva, NY

Honestly, I could not be more proud to be included in Kevin & Mary Schoonover’s Artist Open House at their Flying Whale Studios in Geneva. I knew from the list of participating artists it was going to be a great event, but seeing the art in person when I dropped my hand stitched paper art off yesterday – blew my mind!

The Rochester Artisans participating in the Open House are listed below. You can see the full list of 26 artists here.

Geneva, NY is a beautiful town on Seneca Lake – the perfect destination for a drive with your Thanksgiving guests. It’s less than an hour from Rochester. And thank you for shopping local and supporting local artists!

Scatter Kindness

Scatter Kindness, Enjoyablock by artist Jen Born, of PS Enjoy Your Life.

Artist Jen Born shared this note she received today, on her Facebook page, “In the rush of preparing for my biggest show of the year, this email is EXACTLY what I needed to remind me why I do what I do. I had to share …”

I love that this customer took time to write such a long, personal note to Jen. (And especially love that she wants to help Jen continue build her empire nationally!)

Hi Jen,

I met you briefly at the Allentown Art Festival this summer. I was so drawn to your sign, your work and bought four enjoyablocks for myself and two for my sister. They are sitting on my great Aunt Evelyn’s dresser in my childhood bedroom, where I’ve been staying as my Mom’s primary caregiver in her final months of life. She is my hero and an extraordinary mom, but even as a fit, athletic and active 80 yr old, her breast cancer spread aggressively, quickly and we are deeply entrenched in the hard part now as she laves but not before deep and undignified suffering. She is as brave and graceful as I’ve ever known her to be.

We have had the most magnificent summer and it has been my favorite time in my life, albeit bittersweet. Your artwork was just what I needed and has helped me create a little haven of peace and inspiration. Thanks!

I live in the San Francisco bay area now and will help you if I can once you set your mark on the west coast! I’ve only lived there a couple yrs, so I’m not super connected, but I can help set up a booth or bring lunch just because I believe in you and I am rooting for you!

I am planning to get to the Elmwood Art Festival saturday and I’m hoping you’ll have a “scatter kindness” enjoyablock – you didn’t have one at Allentown.

Thanks for the impact you and your artwork had on me these last few months. I do push-ups and stretch every night to make sure I keep strong, and sometimes catch a glimpse of the “now dig deep” and I get my eye of the tiger!

Corn Hill Arts Festival

I think Jen Born’s Corn Hill Poster should have been selected as the winner so I’m using it here instead of the one that did win, which is perfectly nice, but c’mon – this one rocks hard!
