Venus TaCo, 11 Years Old
(TaCo is what Steve and I use for our unofficial last names combo = Tadio Comstock.)

Many artisans I know have studio pets, our lovable critters that just like to keep us company while we toil away on our art. That’s Venus above, our first born. We also call her Squeaker because she squeaks more than meows. She acts all demure and skittish but we’ve caught her sashaying around the house, enticing the dogs to chase her, then pulls the innocent who-me? act. We now have 2 cats and 2 dogs and sometimes I wish they would all get the heck out of my studio and let me work! Oops, was that out loud? I kid! I kid because I love!

I’m guessing Lori Prince must feel that way once in a while too, because just the other day she was telling me, “One of these days I’m going to get a picture of my studio “helpers” if you are still adding to those pet ones on the Rochester Artisans website. There’s usually one wedged in behind me in the desk chair, one under the table and a cat either trying to walk on the laptop or lay on a work in progress. “kids”!”

We did have a slide show in the sidebar for a while, of various pets of Rochester Artisan members. Note to self – revive that!

All this, to tell you about a craft show application that Joann Chelini sent me yesterday – a fundraiser for Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions Arts & Crafts Sale.

The application and details are available here: 2012 Four-Legged Friends

I see a nice added bonus for this show is they will be awarding prizes, which can reap rewards at future shows, always a sweet perk.

Prizes: A Best in Show prize will be awarded at the end of the day to the vendor judged by an anonymous committee as having most successfully combined an attractive display with a hospitable demeanor. The Best in Show prize will be a free single booth for the Four-Legged Friends Arts & Crafts Show and Sale 2013.

A limited number of Honorable Mentions also will be awarded ensuring automatic acceptance into the 2013 show (no photo requirements, although all other requirements including price will apply).

Judges will anonymously visit vendors throughout the day.
