How hard can it be?

A good number of artists ask me how do I manage to accomplish all that I do. Honestly, I used to barely acknowledge the question because I thought it was kind of ridiculous. Everyone is busy. Everyone does a lot, don’t be silly. Or I’d blow it off with a joke, “Oh easy – I just half-ass everything; it’s much faster that way.”

Then I heard how many times I tell people, “I don’t know what I’m doing or what will happen here, I’m just making it up as I go along.”

I try not to reinvent the wheel, and I rely on the kindness of strangers, and the Internet! Mostly, I just do something!

And one thing I’ve learned is this..if you simply give it a try anyway, sometimes you’ll surprise yourself. ~ Brittne Melhoff

I try to stay focused on one thing at a time, but I’m only successful with that about 40% of the time! Like so many others these days I’m so easily distracted by all the cool stuff there is to read, do, watch, listen to, try, be, go to. Plus my former day job had me pulled in so many directions simultaneously, that was my “normal”.

But that 40%, when I remain focused, I am routinely shocked at how much I can accomplish – certainly more than I expected when I started XYZ. I love when that happens.

Speaking of “normal” – that’s my other most rewarding thing to do, create a new normal. I really feel it when I start a new job or task, something I have to learn. I know I have to go through the frustratingly slow learning curve, but soon, I know it will be my new normal and I won’t be able to remember not knowing ABC.

Seriously, just try it. Take one step. Then another. Then another.

Sometimes you have to fall back and regroup. Then take another step.

You’ll amaze yourself!
