August 10 & 11
10:00 – 6:00
47th Annual Lewiston Art Festival
To be honest, I didn’t know where Lewiston is until I looked it up just now. It’s in Niagara County, about 90 minutes from Rochester. Looks like a great festival – check this out:
On Saturday, watch the chalk fly as teams of talented student artists representing schools from across the region converge in the Key Bank parking lot for the Key Bank Walk Competition. “Arts Are Key” awards are generously sponsored by Key Bank. You get to be the judge for the People’s Choice Award, so be sure to vote for your favorite mural. Judging takes place about 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.
And most importantly, let me introduce you to our two award-winning Rochester Artisans who will be selling their goods at Lewiston Art Festival. They both survived last weekend’s storm-laden Waterfront Art Festival. Theorem painter Sally Read just got soaking wet, but photographer Kevin & his wife Mary Schoonover (Flying Whale Studios) fared much worse: broken wrist, broken tent, but never a broken spirit. Mary is a trooper – just two days post-surgery on her wrist, she’ll be there, working alongside Kevin. She could be loopy on pain meds, but Kevin is half-loopy naturally, so they remain a great team!
I’m so happy that family, friends and the artistic community has been so caring and supportive to Kevin & Mary, offering all kinds of help.
“Want to borrow my tent?”
“I can come help bag & tag new matted photos, if you’d like.”
“We’ll be a Lewiston too – if you need assistance, come find us – we’re happy to help.”
Here’s a taste of the beautiful works by both Kevin Schoonover and Sally Read. Hope you get to see them in person next weekend.
