Hemlock, NY

The Fuzzy Bunny

Our festival features great vendors, with everything you need for fiber arts: raw fleece, roving, spinning supplies, needle felting supplies, dyes, yarns, items needed to knit, crochet, weave—and things you won’t know you need until you see them—not to mention unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade finished items!

For weeks I have poured over every photo posted on the Finger Lakes Fiber Festival’s Facebook event page. And there have been a lot of photos – they are doing an excellent job with that. I love visiting, virtually or in person, places and people who “go deep” into their passion. Even if I have no desire to do it myself, I love getting a taste of other worlds. Just yesterday at Harvester Artisan Market, Jan of Locally Made Shop let me try rug hooking.

I’m really hoping to go to this festival today – it looks amazing!

I really want to try my hand at weaving!

And see all the colorful and natural fibers in their various states, like this roving.

From the multitude of photographs, I learned there are lots of other handcraft items there - buttons, pottery, candles, jewelry. The buttons blew my mind - glass, ceramic, polymer clay, etc.

I've been interested in crafts my entire life and have never even heard of a niddy noddy! (It's used to wind skeins of yarns. Use this instead of having your friend hold her hands apart this far.)

Llamas? Alpacas? I haven't a clue but there are apparently lots of animals to visit too!

Llamas? Alpacas? Sorry, I haven’t a clue but there are apparently lots of animals to visit too!

Hands down best part? Visiting with my extremely talented & creative friend Liz Yockel, The Fuzzy Bunny. (Check out the top shelf. Clear egg cartons filled with colorful roving! I want to display those on my mantel.)

Kerri – I can see that you get notified of blog posts via email but I can’t change that email setting – you have to do that. There should be a change preferences link (or update subscription, something like that) at the bottom of the email, maybe? Unfortunately I just emptied my email trash so I don’t have any earlier notification emails to look at to tell you exactly how to do this.

Thanks for reading and good luck!
